why are adverts so loud and programes much quieter.I always seem to be adjusting the sound up or down WHY OH WHY?

All broadcasters comply with limits in volume and frequencies.

Most programme makers modulate their levels most of the time in order to leave 'head room' for the occasional scream, shriek or explosion.

Advertisers mix all their sound to the max for obvious reasons

Yes it is annoying. Just console yourself that they are the chumps paying for your entertainment.
