Pops doesn't eat choc and even though I know he won't get me an egg he will be making his usual weekly roast for me to feast on so I'd like to try and make him something as a treat.

Bare in mind I do zero cooking so something reasonably simple and cheap to make would be good.

He loves fruity cakes and also coconut mushrooms.

Any suggestions?

What's that when it's at home Coccinelle?
You know, the hard bolied eggs that are boiled with onion skins wrapped round them and wrapped in kitchen roll and string. They come out all lovely shades of brown then you brush them with butter and put them into a nest.
boiled...!!!

Sorry, I'm a bit lost. What does he do with them then?
I'd buy a nice fruitcake and decorate it myself maybe with a stream of blue icing and some flowers and some of his coconut mushrooms as toadstools and all round the cke where it sits on the board/ green foodcolouring in desicated coconut makes good grass for the top too

Yeah maybe I should just buy a bunch of his fruit cakes and make some big decorative concoction out of them. Saves me baking.
should that be coconut macaroons?
Question Author
No, coconut mushrooms. They're sweets. Think they are a bit old fashioned, you can only get them from proper sweet shops that have the big jars behind the counter.

Lol. Think it would only be appropriate I go myself to check out your claims. Just for research purposes of course.

Evian, he eats them. They're hard boiled eggs but an Easter tradition. Maybe a poor man's version of the chocolate easter egg I don't know but Easter wouldn't be Easter without paste eggs. You can even paint them and decorate them as you wish. Also known as pace eggs.
