Have I been Done For Speeding ?

Dual Carrigeway with raised central reservation. Speed camera on the other side of the road facing me. White callibration camera lines on the other side of the road, none on the side I am driving.

Got flashed by this camera (2 flashes) as I drove towards it this morning. Can I expect Plod to descend ? How can they telll speed if no white lines to show distance gone between flashes ?

I just want to know.

no you have not been done if the camera is on other side some speed cameras go off on there own accord anyway i have one by me which i find that if im going about 45 i trigger it even if it is on the other side of road

the white lines even though on other side, are calibrated for both lanes... it will check your speed as you approach it and flash if ness', if you dont hear from them within 48 hours.. you will be ok...good luck

I have had same experience several times on a stretch of dual carriageway near me - the camera seems to be triggered even though I am travelling towards it on the opposite side of the road. No worries.

Well Mal, you didn’t say if you were exceeding the speed limit at the time, but I imagine from your concern that you were. I’m glad that homer75 can offer you reassurance and that you should have no worries. That’s great for you.

However, I do have worries. I have worries that you are only concerned about the risk of being caught and prosecuted and seem to have no concern that your illegal actions may cause an accident. An accident where somebody driving within the law may be on the receiving end.

If you escape prosecution try to treat this incident as a “free go” which provided a warning. Then try to adopt a more responsible attitude whilst driving.
