Following on from the 'Oh Gawd' thread which mentioned Jethro Tull, there are bands that simnply don;t resonate, you ever understand why people like them, and you really can't understand their appeal, and you certainly would never buy one of their albums. Here is my list, off the top of my head -
1. Jethro Tull
2. Blur
3. Rush
4. Frank Sinatra
5. Neil Diamond
6. Florence And The Machine
7. Radiohead
8. Paul Weller
9. Elbow
10. The Smiths
all music companies are greedy - that's why the market is always flooded with middle of the road c**p. But people also seem to like middle of the road so win win
I like many of those groups, Andy- especially the Smiths.
I'm not sure about Jethro Tull - I've heard a couple of things and didn't like them but I haven't really tried and I know someone who loves them. There have been groups over the years that I've dismissed and then suddenly realised many years later when I listened properly that they were really good (eg Foo Fighters and ABBA)
I agree about Radiohead- I loved Creep but everything else sounded really boring.
I've never got Slipknot either.
Andy- you just named at least half of my cd colleciton:(
1. Justin Bieber
2. Cheeky Girls
3. Most R n B artists ( wt f is that noise???)
4. Most Hip Hop Artists ( ditto)
5. Beatles
6. Steps
7. S club 7
8. Most Country and Western ( Although they can be funny somttimes)
9. Family groups (Osmonds, Jacksons, Nolans, Corrs, Kelly Family- most terrifying band ever etc)
10. Mariah Carey (oh just yukk)
Oh, at the risk of upsetting one particular AB member, can I put Garth Brooks on the list?
But that's the beauty of music- we all love different things.
