We have been saving 20p's for some time now and wish to cash them in. However, the bank will only allow us 5 x £5.00 bags daily. As we have three sweet jars full, it would take months to exchange. The supermarket Change machines charge 9% on all transactions (although you can put through in one hit). Does anyone have any ideas please?
Some NatWest banks have Change Machines where money is deposited direct into your account. No limit as far as I know, I recently changed up £280 worth of mixed coins (bl**dy heavy). And no charge on transactions.
dzug is spot on
what are the benefits of using pumped-up non-clearing 'banks'?(building societies),
the likes of santander (abbey)etc operate in different and painfully longwinded ways because they arent in the big boys club,
and they are full of old dears taking up time with their passbooks etc,
I save all my £2 coins and a few months back took in £600 worth ..Bank of Scotland did not blink an eye...gave me notes in exchange...I don't even bank there !!!
I work in a Post Office and I would take them for you, providing they were in £10 bags. Not that I'm saying every Post Office would, but it may be worth popping into your local one and asking them.
