STAINED WOOD
5 Answers
All the paintwork in my bungalow is dark stained wood inside and out. I am shortly having all my windows replaced with white plastic and they are putting white window sills inside for me as well. The doors are good quality dark ??wood that I am happy to retain but want all the skirting boards and around the doors painting white. What is the easiest and cheapest way to do this. I had the dado rail in my hall painted white last year and I believe he just painted over the staining although it looks fine a ayear later. This would be my ideal solution but i would like to hear from people who have changed from staining to white what they did.

I'm afraid I chickened out of the door knobs it all sounded too easy to get wrong although I still have your instructions pasted in my documents. Consequently I now have both the living room and the bathroom doors that will not close, although of course i can lock the bathroom from the inside (!) but not to worry I am now thinking that i will have new knobs when I get the paintwork done brass ones are so old fashioned now (at least that's what my daughters tell me ha ha)
