We have had the same quartz mantle clock for years and it has worked perfectly until some months ago when it seemed to get through batteries at the rate of one a month. I always use Duracell type and wondered if anyone else has had the same problem. A battery lasted ages to start with so can anyone explain why this has happened.

When I had a clock repaired recently I was advised never to use Duracell or other good named batteries as they were too strong for a clock mechanism. Was advised to use cheapie ones.
