Hello there,

I live for the moment in Erdington( i hate this are:( ), and i lived as well in City Centre, Yardley( Coventry Road) and Washwood heath road, that was awful as well.. I`m planning to move in the next 2 months time maximum from Erdington, and I don`t know where. For one year i hated to live in Birmingham, but recently I discover the beauty of the Birmingham, and I said to myself to give another change to this city, but now I don`t know which area to choose.
we are an young couple, but we are looking for a really affordable area, for me it is impossible to think to pay more than 650£ for a decent house, and to be honest I can`t understand why some parts of Birmingham are so awful, i do like the cultural cocktail but the reason that i moved into Uk was to find British culture not the est european or Bombay one.
I know that Sutton Coldfield and solihull are good area, but they are pretty expensive. I am looking for an area that have a park, not very far from city center, not far from shops, with nice atmosphere.
anyway i will thank you in advance for every idea that you will share with me. have a great day/evening/night :)

I lived on the west side - Quinton - we liked it there. Some parts are better than others, ditto Edgbaston - there are poorer parts on the Smethwick border but some cracking big houses as you get near the cricket ground.

How dare you! Birmingham is a fantastic city with a fascinating industrial and war history. Some of the architecture in the city centre is beautiful - open your eyes and look :)

Anyway, where are you going?
You forgot Villa park hc4361.

@hc yeah, right, to shame that the people attitude it is awful.
villa park, the one on 16 place ? :)
Moseley and Harborne are nice but both probably pretty pricy to live. Have friends and family in both and close to shops and town etc...

Is Trinity Road up just out of town past the canals? I had family who had a lovely little flat by there.
tonyav, Villa Park is the blot on the landscape.

Jenna, that was a bit of a wind up Trinity Road is in Aston, it goes past the Villa ground.
Oh haha :) It was nice where my brother lived, round Sheepcote somewhere I think.
Small Heath City is the only blot on the landscape that comes to mind with me hc4361 lol.

london it is really nice, but expensive.
Why everyone keep telling me about Moseley? Even my friends they keep tell me about, but when I have been there, i did not found anything exciting. Maybe I need to make a visit to Specsavers or to spent more time there and found something interesting, but really doesnt look like quiet and nice area to live in.
ta for your opinion.

hy ladybirer, ofc i looked on Gumtree, Right Move, find a property etc but the properties look awful, I don`t know why they rent a house that looks like a dump..
If you are looking for culture which is not as you describe it, Birmingham (and any other major city) is not the place to be. To find that, you'll probably have to look in the villages or small towns - besides, "British culture" varies very much across different parts of the country.
Question Author
Hy Boxtops, I wonder why i cant found nothing cultural here.

You should have it everywhere, because you have a great history, but everything that i see is just alcohol, violence and a big indifference about anything..
