However you can use silicone bath and shower sealant which is inert once dried and has done the job successfully for me. Unsrew, dry out. Apply liberally over both sides of gasket. Await 24 hours to dry and pull off any silicone that has squeezed out of the sides into the kettle bottom.
Many of these new-fangled kettles with screw bottoms seemed prone to the gasket degrading.
