Which supermarket?

If there was a branch of each major supermarket equal distances from your home, which one would you go to?

I partly do that, Venator. I like Sainsbury's lasagne, so if I want some I'll do the rest of my shop while I'm there. Same for Tesco sorbet.

I hate wasting food... a no go area for me. However I like shopping at our local Tesco because the costumer service is great, always polite and very helpful unlike the misery which is mandatory at Morrison s.

as i no longer work i have become an anorak, Waitrose great for deli counter but tooo tempting to overspend.Asda good for bulk items such as bog rolls,local co-op has Bells on offer for £12 but the fags are cheaper in the newsagents,how do these shops arrive at the prices.

actually, I do alot of bulk shopping in Costco, from big boxes of Cokes to four steaks at a time. Much cheaper for most things (except wine, I find). But you have to join the club.

It is a sad admission but when I was in the Lake District I insisted we visit Booth's because I'd heard it was the 'Waitrose of the North'.

Ha Ha, JNO. I tend to find Waitrose deals on coke better than CostCo and often buy wine there because it is cheaper than Waitrose, especially Villa Maria Sauv Blanc!

I like some of their fresh stuff but do find the dates can be a bit short.

Sainsbury's and Morrison's as they are the closest. Marks & Spencers if I happen to be in town. Lidl for loo paper, chocolate and detergent.

We used to shop at Sainsbury's all the time until an Aldi opened and we now get most of our shopping there for half the price. Problem is they don't sell a lot of the stuff that others sell such a basics like suet and other things.

Waitrose............and I do have a choice of Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco, and Morrisons as well.

...then again I'm no saint, I'd pick and choose depending on what I wanted. I think ASDA and TESCO are the cheapest and nastiest, so I'd go for either one when in need of cheap/nasty broccoli or special offers on items made by Chinese children. I'd pick Sainsbuggeries or Waitrose if I wanted better quality (particularly food). If the local corner shop was closed and I felt particularly ethically charged, I'd choose Co-op.

My nearest supermarket is Sainsburys which is usually much dearer than Asda and Morrisons. So on a bad day with no car handy Sainsburys take the
money. I seem to waver between Morrisons and Asda.

As I live in a city-my choice is limited to a really crappy Tesco Metro-where the customer service is dire,a decent Sainsbury's,an M&S...and Aldi's and Lidl's near work. I use them all-for different things.

I must be so lucky where I live as there is a choice of them all - Tesco, Co-op, M&S, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl and now Asda, none of them more than a 10 min drive away and some within walking distance - spoilt for choice!
