I have a large collection of a very well known series of books and I believe many of them to be first edition 1940's (?). I want to complete the collection and invest in buying first editions but i'm not sure where to start. Where can i find out how much the books are worth so I know I'm not getting ripped off. Also, should I buy on ebay or always inspect the book in person.

Thanks
