Do you remember when, as a child, you could not understand why you had to go to bed when it was still light?

Now, I love going to bed in the twilight and lying there watching the decreasing daylight. I find it very comforting.

Yes I do. I remember hearing other older kids playing outside, and my curtains were closed.
Yep, hated going to bed when it was still light; love it now as it means I'll get a proper nights sleep!
There always seemed to be somebody pushing an old lawnmower - you know, the pre-flymo ones - or maybe I was hearing my own snores.....
oddly enough tilly, i find it easier to go to sleep when it is light
Yep, especially when you knew some of your friends were still out playing.

Yes, it was all the sounds that kept you awake and it always seemed to be too hot.
I used to get my own back by getting up at the crack of dawn and going and waking my Mum and Dad. I do regret that, poor things. They had to go to work and I was waking them at 5.00am saying. 'Is it time to get up now?'
I remember this from when I was young

In winter I get up at night and dress by yellow candlelight
In summer quite the other way I have to go to bed by day
And does it not seem hard to you when all the skies are clear and blue
when I would like so much to play to have to go to bed by day

It just came back to me - it would seem I still have some little grey cells!
Thanks Tilly!
