For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.pdq 1, the defendant was not an illegal immigrant he was an asylum seeker and here legally while his claim was considered. A British citizen in the same circumstance could not be deported as this is their home, so your answer about British citizens being treated more leniently is absurd
em10 he can't be deported because the law says he can't, as I have just said the judge only applies the law he/she does not write the law.
There could only be an appeal if the sentence was outside the guidelines which this was not! As we have been told by Fredpuli that the guidelines are a jail term of 3 to 7 years so this was not outside the guidelines and there are no grounds for appeal. The defendant was also requiered to sign the sex offender register for life which is a major punishment in itself .
Sorry ! but many on here are simply ignorant of the basic rules of law and post comments that are impossible to apply.
There is an awful lot wrong with the Human rights law but Judges can not just ignore it , they have to abide by it no matter what their personal thoughts on it are.

To qualify for the minimum sentence would there not need to be no exacerbating factors? It seems he was acting in concert with another man, who received a 10 year prison term, and they both had betrayed the trust of the girls' parents.
