I'm enjoying it too
But please no Paul McCartney
with you there, 4get, but then I'm an alien... why the British persist in hating their own history beats me.
Who needsa re#run of Top of the Pops?
I love our history. I'm very patriotic. However, this is an Olympic opening ceremony and not a history lesson to the rest of the world. It should be happy and spectacular.
I'm getting a lump in my throat.
Dont mind McCartney just hate how that song goes on and on and on

Is that owt to do with the opening ceremony ?
so you're knocking being proud of our history, our nhs (especially gosh), our music, our film, our humour, our diversity..............stop whingeing and enjoy, The cost is a quarter of what other nations have wasted, thousands of volunteers and a great soundtrack
Absolutely dreadful opening ceremony, bored the t!ts off me, I couldnt watch any more.

Answerbank is far more exciting!!
I think it has been splendid so far, diverse and both deep and witty at times - just superb.
oh what a surprise hey jude
you were the one that drew the fate straw 4getmenot. Expect AB arrows heading your way!
I rather liked most of it, it was quite good fun to watch. No hitches either except Paul McCartney's start to Hey Jude but he covered it up well. Whether the rest of the world understood the British quirkiness it is another matter! The only thing that really irritated us were the announcements in French before we knew what they were talking about - yes I know the reason why, but we are the host nation and should have known what was going on first, bet the French were loving it! We should ne proud of tonight, wonder what the closing ceremony will be like? Felt very sorry for the Queen sitting all that time through it (at her age!) just to say one sentence to open the games - just wish she had smiled!
What a load of negative and puerile comments have been made on here about what I thought was a fantastic ceremony. The only boring part was the entry of all the competitors because it went on for so long.

How anyone can say that the making of the five rings, the Queen's first acting role, the GOSH display and finally the lighting of the Flame was boring is beyond me.

The na na nas went on a bit too long at the end though.
No arrows from me 4getmenot - McCartney was tragically bad.
