2nd Class Honours
A son of a friend of mine says he got 69% in exams and if he had got 1% more to equal 70% it would have been classed as 1st Class honours. As 2nd class honours ranges from 60% to 69% would it be worthwhile for him to appeal the 69% to see if it could be made up to 70%. At least they could hardly drop him to under 60%. Any views on this would be appreciated and have any appealed similiar exam results. Thanks.

• The 5-14 programme which defines the curriculum from P1-P7 and S1and 2
• The standard grade programme in S3 and 4
• Higher grade courses studied in S5, but also available to those in S6; and
• The Advanced Higher taken by most able S6 students.
Students at the end of S2 choose the “Standard Grade” courses they will study in S3-S4. Standard Grade is broadly similar to GCSE. These are examined at three levels of increasing difficulty: Foundation, General and
Credit. Students generally study 7 subjects and at least one science is compulsory. Grade allocations range
from 1(highest) to 7(lowest).
• Grades 1-2 are credit
• 3-4 are general
• 5-6 are foundation
7 indicates ”course completed”
