I have a daughter in the army currently in UK. Last week I forwarded about 6 items of post and she has just contacted me to say that she had to pay £6 to the Royal Mail because some of the items were UK Mail. How do I forward UK Mail?? and did you all out there know about this because it is the first I have heard about it.

^ sorry, I misread your post, she IS in the UK - and the forwarding service is only available on Royal Mail paid letters, UK Mail is a commercial mail service - I can see why Royal Mail would count UK Mail letters as unstamped. Ask UK Mail here https://www.ukmail.co..._support/default.aspx

I may be wrong here but I have the impression that you may have tried to use the BFPO system where it shouldn't have been used, i.e. in the UK?
If you are forwarding anything with UK postage on it to an address overseas, you'd need to put appropriate overseas postage on it.

If she does have a BFPO address for her mail, that should be used - perhaps by putting the mail in a separate envelope of your own. You still have to pay the appropriate amount though http://www.mod.uk/Def...ndALetterOrPacket.htm

Free redelivery is only within the UK
