Just mentioned on the news about the airports preparing for thousands of athletes and team support travelling home. How about the ones who don't? Already seven athletes from Cameroon disappeared in the first few days, so can measures be out in place to send them back? Apparently their visitor visas last until November so officially they are still here legally.

if their visit visas dont run out until Nov, theres nothing the authorities can do until then. Knowing what a soft touch we are dont suppose much action will be taken even after then.

perhaps, then, you should ask this question in November
did Syria take part ? surely their althletes wont go back unless there are threats to their families.Wouldnt like to work the check in desks at Heathrow today !
Dee, 10 athletes took part. 6 men and 4 women, although 1 woman got kicked out for failing a drugs test.

Bibblebub, assuming the incoming athletes were logged as entering the country, will there be a record taken of those who decide to remain for the duration of their visa? That action needs to be taken now, not later
More bl00dy paranoia- no no action needs to be taken- people are here legally until November- kick up a fuss then if you absolutely must.

Indeed - why would we do anything about someone here legally?
I see the 'welcoming our brothers and sisters from around the world' bonhomie of the Olympics didn't last long...
They're over - back to normal folks........
Lol @ NOX.

What do you want to happen Sheen? Should they be put under surveillance?
I have to say this thread has had me chuckling... I do love people who 'wear their heart on their sleeve' for want of a better way of putting it...
I do hope the Yorkshire team have been sent home ...
If they were any good at their chosen sport could they represent us at the next games?
There's an idea, an amnesty for all goal medal winning defectors?
Actually, sunny-dave, there wasn't a Yorkshire team - they were refused visas and interned at Cleckheaton...
Good thing too - all those cloth caps????
Cat flaps surely ...
at least *if* they stay, they are healthy and won't cost the NHS anything?

Ummmm impossible to expect that everyone who enters the country stays on in order to make a positive contribution to the country, and surveillance would be extreme and unnecessary. The fact GB is seen as a soft touch is what irks me, and I would hope that the relevant authorities make themselves aware of who does remain and that they do so for positive reasons. This is just as much a raili against the apathy of those in charge of immigration as anything else
They can compete for us next time.
