Has anyone else received a mail supposedly from Nationwide saying their account has been suspended due to multiple attempts to access it? It gives an https:// link, but I am very suspicious of things like this.
Thanks
I don't think a bank or building society send emails like this and if there was a problem they'd just suspend it and you wouldn't know until you tried to use your card or something.
If it's not addressed to you personally then just delete it (after forwarding it to the bank's phishing address if you wish).
If you don't have an account that's a pretty good indicator it's a scam!.
If you hover over the address given it will probably give you an address in Eastern Europe.
Personally I don't think there's any point in going into the branch with it. The spammers usually try to make a quick hit then get out - the address has probably been closed down already
Finally, if you are still unsure, my family all had several emails claiming to be from Nationwide this week telling us our accounts have been suspended. We don't have any Nationwide accounts. I suggest you just delete it.
I'm afraid I get them all the time, from all the banks, HM tax department saying I've got a refund, even Paypal! Don't open anything like this. just delete or send to their Phishing email address.
Thanks, everyone. The mail was sent to my work account, which has a very effective spam filter, but occasionally some get through.
I have reported it.
Thanks again.
