Sorry, what I meant was are they still in circulation. ( I know all about the legal tender bit now)

By pound notes, do you mean ONE Pound notes (as opposed to coin), although not really qualified to answer being at the other end of U.K., I do get plenty through the post still. If you mean Scottish notes in general, then I do know that Royal Bank of Scotland recently issued a 5. bearing a picture of a golfer which apparently was selling for above face value even though many millions had been printed - also I do believe that Scottish 50`s were recently introduced - they have had 100`s for many many years.

Yes, the 1 note is still in circulation. They're rubbish and we want someone to take them all away (or pay them all into my account)

I once saw someone in Heathrow trying to pay for a sandwich with a pound note, pretending it was a fiver. Muppet. Then the lead singer of Cast came up and complained his pregnant wife's pizza slice was burnt.

But yes, they are... At least I bl**dy well hope so...

Yes they are still in circulation but it's recommended to us that if we come across them we should go to the bank and exchange them for pound coins :)
Scottish £1 notes are still in circulation in Scotland and can be used to buy goods in Scotland, but not in England and Wales. They are getting rare even in Scotland though where mostly UK £1 coins are used. They are promisary notes rather than legal tender where the Royal Bank of Scotland gaurantees their value. Theoretically, this means that if the RBS ever went bust the notes would be valueless.
