I just had a holiday in France and whilst driving down through France we were picking up different radio stations at one point the missus said "whats that" pointing at the radio, and the word f**k was clearly displayed where the frequency/raqdio station normally is then the word changed to something else, it turns out we were listening to "Nostalgi" and some of the lyrics to songs appear on the radio, so how do the do this and why dont they do it over here.?

RT (radio text)
This function allows a radio station to transmit a 64-character free-form textual information that can be either static e.g. station slogans or in sync with the programming such as the title and artist of the currently playing song.

tnx rojash, thats what was happening, some lyrics then the artists name, ive never seen it here tho, just the name of the station.

I haven't seen lyrics appear but on my DAB radio the name of the artist and track always appears. I find it very useful especially when I'm on PlanetRock
What were you listening to?

Perhaps it was Alanis Morissette 'You oughta know'

Mind you the English radio version has a bit of silence at that bit.
Probably not a good idea when your driving.
