Any ABers from that area?
I was born in Turner Lane Ashton, and just wondered what it is like now to live there. I do not know if I have any relatives still left in that area. My maiden name was Annette ( yes that was my surname) and I just wondered if anyone could remember that name in the late 50s.

I was born and brought up for a few years in Audenshaw. Ashton has changed, but some parts are still reconisable - the market hall and market place are still there and busy. You could go to the Council's website www.tameside.gov.uk if you haven't already done that. Sorry that I can't help with your search for relatives. Have you tried some of the on-line family trees? Or a web search for any family names that you remember? Just looked up your surname in the phone book for around that area, 2 names but without the e on the end of the name. Good luck in your search.

Just to add, I've found 2 people with the same surname and spelling, in Bramhall and Clayton. The only two in the directory. None in Central or North West Manchester directories.
