Windows 7 Service Pack won't update
20 Answers
Further to my previous threads. My letters still keep jumping about on screen, I lose text when I am typing, I get text highlighted for no reason, web pages open up without me clicking on the touchpad and now my laptop is running really slow. I am NOT touching the touchpad when I type. I had a new hard drive fitted a couple of weeks ago and these problems have started immediately since then. I have found that the above Service Pack just won't install. Error KB976932 and it's not something I can update myself as I'm not technical at all. Would this be the problem? Is it necessary to have this update?

Have you downloaded and run malwarebytes?

What anti-malware do you use, if any?

To find out of you have 64bit or 32bit windows right click on the word computer on the start menu and select properties.
And no, don't uninstall MSE before installing malwarebytes, they live fine together, they are for different things.
Do make sure you download the free version of malwarebytes and be careful to click "decline" when offered the trial of the full version when you install it.

I don't understand what your are saying... if you click on the link in my fist post you should get a page that looks like below... click on the large "DOWNLOAD" button for the highlighted file.

(although do what MR says first and do a scan with malware bytes... let that finish and remove anything it finds, then deal with the service pack)
