i thoroughly mucked my life up by failing school, getting up the duff at 17 and spending the next 13 years if a fog of drug use and depression. then i went to uni, became a nurse and now i teach medical students.....it's lecturing at uni i am really after and so i am doing an msc in order to get my dream job. it's been a long road, but at least i'm happy now and i'm getting there x
I knew from an early age that I wanted to do something 'arty'. I was average academically, but managed to impress my art teachers. I left school wanting to do fashion illustration. After a 2 year commercial art degree,I was a graphic artist for 18 years.
Boxtops - teaching is not all its cracked up to be.
Sher, I know that know - I wanted to teach needlework, a niche market, and I'm so glad I didn't now.

My A Level Needlework was useful when I worked in the brewery (not). :-)
No i didnt.......

However feel like ive done well and this is just the start :) x
Hope you get your dream job,lcg76-you certainly deserve it after the effort you put in to turn your life around. Good luck.
Like many I messed up at school. Went to grammar school, did absolutely nothing so had to do first year again. Left at 16 without any o levels. Turned down at first interview for job as office junior at a firm of undertakers, they thought I was too giggly for them. Worked in offices in rag trade for some years, eventually going into payroll. Worked for a few companies over the years in payroll until I retired. Loved my job, always enjoyed figures.
I had few if any ambitions when I left but I've managed to plough my own furrow while not ending up "successful" but bitter, twisted and ill like so many of my conteporaries.
I'm comfortable and content with a small mortgage and a nice family.
