It was my lunch hour at work and the departmental tv's were on. We were so shocked.
Later on when I left work walking through the streets of the West End, I was so surprised to see policemen with great big guns.
Why is this information important?
Hi owdhamer

Well if you look at my previous thread and my plans had not changed I would have probably been near the top of the Twin Towers and may not have been writing this today.
Indeed.
An uncle changed shift at Gresford pit it saved his life.
I was at home and was watching the tower smoking and the news caster was talking and then the second plane came in, it was confusing and unreal. Garth was actually in Manhattan reading to a group of elementary school children that day, I didn't know that until many years later.
i was doing the ironing when me son came in from work and told me to switch tv on quick
I lived in the US and was over here with customers. Saw the whole fecking thing.

Stranded six days and the Brits were fantastic, the hospitality incredible, something to be proud of as a nation to how you received American visitors, and not me, I was an inbetween, and it wasn't just my Company.

I almost lost four staff in the collapse - they were due to be attending a mini-conference in the Windows on the World - and two of my clients, who were to become partners in a new business. The coincidences that day why folk were late to the Towers was remarkable.
In work. horrified, watching it in the map library
Had the removers in, at a flat in London. They had shifted almost everything out, but left the TV because they'd just heard the news on their radio. We didn't take it seriously at first; one of them joked that a Cessna had crashed in an Irish graveyard once and 50 bodies had been recovered;because we initially thought that the plane was some small plane that had gone too low.
We saw the drama unfold on TV and soon realised our mistake. Some shocked Americans were soon out in the street outside and we invited them in to use our phone lines.
I was supposed to operate home from Miami. Didn`t though. Not that day, nor the next, nor the next...
Hi DTcrosswordfan

Your circumstances were similar to mine.
In Santa Susanna Spain, on holiday with my daughter and granddaughter. The TV was on in the reception area of the Hotel but the sound was turned down, I couldn't make out what I was seeing, possibly an action film. It wasn't until much later that we heard what happened. My BIL was on holiday with his family in America they were delayed for four days before they were allowed to fly back home.
