Loved the comment by the newscaster on the BBC - "apparently there are lots of lights in the sky over the north of England, a meteor shower, or we are being invaded!!"

I've just heard on the radio that it wasn't a meteor shower it was actually manmade debris re-entering the earth's atmosphere. Apparently it was travelling to slowly for it to be a meteor shower.

I saw what looked like a big ball of fire with bits coming off it - not like any meteor I've ever seen. Cool though :-)

An alien spaceship? HG Wells wrote in The War of the worlds that the Martians came to earth just like that. And we've just invaded their planet.

I saw something last night too it was weird it looked like what you saw karenmac but it was moving really slow. It looked like a gigantic sparkler.
