Just read in the S.E. that the winner of the 19th Annual World Porridge Making Championships at Carrbridge in the Highlands is English (beating last year's Scottish champion John Boa). Congratulations. Apparently Benedict Horsbrugh has Scottish roots so I'm not too disappointed -just kidding.I'm proud that the person who beat competitors from all over the world to win the Golden Spurtle Award is British.

These are the mornings for a big bowl of porridge. A few chopped nuts and some dried fruit mixed into it makes a breakfast fit for a king.

sandyRoe I suppose you could say yhat -actually I've always known it as a spurkle though maybe that's a Doric pronunciation. I've never added anything to the basic recipe -never ever sugar!!
