Sitting in the X-Ray dept of a local hospital this morning waiting for someone when one of the radiologists came out and called my name. As I went to get up from my chair the chap beside me turned to his wife and said, 'I shouldn't be long', and away he went.

And it depends on whether they were calling people in alphabetical order. There was a cricket team where every player had the same surname

I was in a stand-by queue to be called for an Aer Lingus flight and they called my (very English) name out. Not only was it not me but the woman who came forward was Saudi Arabian.

I worked in an office when I was 19, and 4 out of the 5 men who also worked there had the same first name.

I was stood in a tiny chemists waiting for a prescription, just one other lady was there. the pharmacist called out my surname - which isnt a very common one - and we both walked to counter at the same time. Pharmacist looked puzzled and repeated the name. We both said"yes thats me" and started laughing. We both had exactly the same name.

I used to know a lady with a quite unusual surname.

She married a man with the same name, except that he had a u in the middle of his - same pronunciation.

She later divorced him, but I don't know if she jettisoned the u.

My surname's not that common and I thought my Christian name was fairly rare.

Sandy, was there a split second where you thought you were being called for the appointment?

We have a regular client here with the same first name as me. When ever someone is talking about something she has said or done, my first thought is that I don't remember doing/saying that.

I used to live near a neighbour who had the same name as me and played for the local football team, (Colchester).
The only difference was he was known as Mick or Micky and whenever I received a phone call asking for Mick, (he was ex-directory and I wasn't), I knew it was for him.

I sat for 3/4 of an hour in a podiatry clinic, finally challenged the receptionist as to why so long. When she checked she found that a woman who had been there in the morning chatted and they thought the name in the appointments book was her sister so rang her to remind her, so my namesake got my appointment. But they did squeeze me in, no refund though
