Hi everyone.
Can anyone recommend a book about 'grass roots' insect life in Britain. We have various 'spotter' guides but I wondered if there were a book that was a bit more detailed than the usual guides that have a page with a dozen beetles on it, if you know what I mean. The more technical the better really. Thanks a million. Wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas.

I'am going back a bit but the collins guides, used to be superb and as far as i know still are. May be worth giving it a google...

The book I tend to use the most is Collins Complete British Wildlife Photoguide.

Perhaps not as in depth as you wanted but it still covers mammals, birds, insects, spiders, molluscs, wild flowers, trees and shrubs, fungi...all in photos with 10 - 12 on a page. I found it on Amazon so have a look inside the book to give you an idea of the layout and the information. Happy Christmas!
