DVD Troubles

I recently bought a DVD writer, and installed it as drive D(with my DVD drive as E). All was well. I then wrote some data onto DVD-r, but when I attempted to read the discs in either drive all became not well! All I got was a blue screen after the disc spun. It said something about an error in scsi1hlp(03). Can anyine tell me why? When I returned to the desktop the entire contents of my computer disappeared until I rebooted. The problem has since started happening with normal cd-roms as well.

Apparently you can rename the scsi1hlp.vxd file to scsi1hlp.old and it will still work.
