Does anyone else remember what it was like in the 70s
10 Answers
....being a teenager, having posters on your wall and listening to the transister in school and watching TOTP on a Thursday at 7.30. Our parents didn't understand it all and thought everything was wrong and wicked? we went to discoteques and stayed out until 11pm on fridays but from 9pm onwards we were like banshees and a wild child all in one and then tried not to breathe smoke/cider on Dad after he picked us up outside the church hall (where we were supposed to have been but we'd been in the local pub all night) ..........how innocent were we eh? Little did we know some girls our age were being abused by superstar DJs that we only fantasised about........

When I was about 10 I longed to go on Jim'll Fix It, and then later on I desperately wanted to be go to Top of the Pops. Glad I didn't now. What a horrible loss of innocence for the children who were victims. I feel so sad for them, but am also chilled to the bone at the thought that it could so easily have been me.
kiki I am convinced it is the tip of the ice-berg and that the same thing will have happened to not a few hundred but a few thousand in varying degrees throughout the 60s and 70s, girls flocked to shows in small venues where different pop groups at all levels of fame and stardom performed and let fans get close to them. The Beatles, The Hollies, The Mindbenders, loads of other groups, they came to every town with a dance hall and performed live and thier fans screamed at them and then tried to get to them and many many succeeded, i worked in debenhams with a woman who could list some huge names that she says she spent a decent half hour shagging when she was 14-16! Imagine if every girl now cam forward and said they had sex with such and such and she was only 14.....we would be talking thousands I know it.
