Emulsion on ceiling

I have papered my ceiling with polystyrene patterned paper.I have tried to emulsion it but it is patchy and in daylight looks awful .Have I used the wrong paint ,it was only cheap stuff .

Its everyone to their own, but for the ceiling, I use only undercoat, I find it works well,

I'd never use anything but Dulux or Crown emulsion - everything else has always been false economy for me. Sorry, JoeyB but it looks like you'll have to do another coat, maybe even two more.

agreed, dulux or crown. u'll need a couple more coats on that
