King Kong (the 70's remake)

Just watched the 70's remake King Kong with Jeff bridges and Jessica Lange. What are your views on this version ?

Rubbish! King Kong didn't look or move like an ape. The 30's original was better. I have yet to see the latest version but heard reports that it is overly long and the first hour is a drag.

it was ok a bit rude for a tuesday afternoon matinee explain that to the kids a 50ft ape pulling your top off "whats the big monkey doing mummy"

scotstone don't listen to those reports about the first hour being a drag, i thought the film zipped along...we all have our own individual opinions about which kong film was best, i thought the latest version was as good if not better than the original.

Totally agree with you on all points surfer mike. The 70's version was cr*p, but the new one is (like you say) just as good, but probably better than the original. Forget 'Lord of the rings', this is Peter Jackson's masterpiece.

I seem to be the only person who doesn't see the appeal of Kong at all. I did watch the re-make - my abiding memory is what great legs Jessica Lange has - something tells me that's not the memory the film makers would like me to have!

I can't believe they are bringing in a new version of this. I thought it was cruel to animals and refuse to listen to or have anything to do with it.

Why do they keep remaking old films? Why can't they make their own up?

Same here Andy. Kong doesn't really appeal to me much either. I wasn't bothered about the orginal but I was just inteterested to know if the 70's version had the same plot as the original. Yes, Jessica had nice legs indeed and naomi watts would be the only reason why I would go and see the new Kong!
