Has anyone read this?, I've just seen a trailer to the film and it looks like a fantasy, is the book? I fancy giving it a go but I don't want to get half way through reading it for it to decend into a farce.
I read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It purports to be a true story but you'd have to weigh up the degree to which you'd accept unproven scenarios in the natural world ( trying not to be a spoiler). But it is well written and has interesting insights into our relationships with animals and poses philosophical questions about what we really know about the natural world.
It's a surprisingly good read, though does get a bit weird in places. Prob not a surprise really: I would go a bit weird if I was in a small boat in the sea for months.
There is a bit of a twist at the end...or is there? I really never worked that bit out!!
Think I'll give it a whirl, the trailer to the film was very eye catching and made it look very interesting. Books are always better than the films aren't they, O'll order it from the library today
I read it a long time ago. I enjoyed it, it was quite mellow. The end stuck with me, probabaly as I didn't know if I got it or not. I don't remember thinking it was something they could make into a film.
