Save it as a gif file and make the background (the non-moon bit) transparent.

The image itself *always* has to be square/rectangular but you can make bits of it invisible so that viewers only see a circle.

If you can't do this yourself can you link to the image?
If you have Photoshop or similar then try this.......after you copy the photo then paste it into there by doing File/new. then flatten the Image and select the dark background with the select tool., which is easier thn selecting th Moon image. Then do Inverse from the select menu and Copy the selected moon image..........then paste that into flash.........

Another way..... paste into your imaging software and select the moon using the circular select tool.........then copy and paste..........hope this helps

stevie i am not too experienced at paint shop pro (my image editor of choice) and have no idea how to do this properly. i have tried to set it as transparent but still get the coloured box when i paste into flash. the url is http://www.netaxs.com/~mhmyers/cdjpgs/eclfullL.jpg if you really wouldnt mind. thank you. i need just the circle of the moon to be visible

commoner. the freehand cut and paste option still pastes with a squared coloured box surrounding it. as stevie said, flash objects are always squared so i think that his idea would work better. thanks for the reply anyway.

In Paint Shop Pro (or any prog) you need to save it as a gif and not a jpg.

Then (on my olde version of PSP at least) click on the "Colors" menu, and "Set Palette Transparency".
Then you can click somewhere on the image to set that colour as what you want to be transparent.

Here's a *very* quick effort : there's still a little black around the edge of the moon :

If necessary, I'll tinker more later. I'm away to watch my new West Wing DVD :-)
(Thank you Santa)
