Ever heard of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)?

It may be that you have developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This needs treating profesionally, so it may be that a visit to your GP. is needed.
Hi - yes it sounds as if you have developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. A common disorder which can be treated if you see an Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (Counsellor). Your GP will be able to make an appropriate referral for you.....you're not going mad!
sounds to me like you have a natural desire to protect your baby. I double and triple check things some times. I have NO OCD but it's merely a way of making sure the ones we love are safe. gemma, you're a normal, healthy new mum!

i would have a chat with your health visitor/doc and see what they think, your a new mum so your bound to be worring about things and your hormones are prob still all over the place or if you have a good friend you could confine in too pref one who has children and see waht they were like when they first became a new mum.

good luck verity x

I think NFNs answer was more realistic. You are not mad just suffering from stress and anxiety with the pressures of protecting and looking after your baby. Dont worry it should get better as you get more adept and adjust to the added pressures you have at the moment. I dont think you have OCD especially if this is a recent complaint,- you just sound like a normal young woman with an hectic lifestyle at the moment.

sounds like it could be OCD but you should speak to your Dr. OCD is much more common than people realise and it definitely doesnt mean you are mad though it can be very annoying. I used to work with a woman who has OCD and she said it started after she had her first child. some people feel they have to touch things a certain amount of times otherwise something bad will happen. but it is treatable. whether its stress or OCD speaking to your doctor should reassure you.

My Daughter has had OCD since she was a very little girl, she has it under control now. She has a 2year old and a 10 week old....I think its more likely to be anxiety after the baby and maybe, just maybe, a little post natal depression..I dont think it's OCD at all but still think it may be wise to speak to you doctor or health visitor...good luck and dont worry....Mums just worry it's part of their job xxx
