I wear contact lenses and have ended up with this horrible condition :(

Has anyone ever had it? I need some support! I feel terrible because it's painful and I don't like wearing my specs - they're not too up to date you see! How long did yours last? I was told it'll take 7 days before my eye fully heals. 7 long days...

Hi Yummy

Had this problem several years ago - I was prescribed some ointment that I had to apply three times daily. I felt as though I had a matchstick under my eyelid !! Took about 7 - 10 days for it to heal, but sadly I was still getting the odd "flare up" some months later. It disappeared eventually though.

Good luck

Thank you fbg40 - feel better knowing there is someone out there who has had it too.. It's probably very common! It's horrible - mine feels like there is a piece of my plastic contact lens stuck somewhere! I can't rotate my cornea to look right or down!

:)

HI Yummy. I have to wear scleral lenses and hard lenses.
i get corneal abrasions several times a year. The only thing you can do is NOT WARE your lenses till the abrasion heals.
What type of lenses do you wear?
Was it due to over wearing them or an accident.
If you ignore the healing process you will get scar tissue growing on the corneal like me bcos I thought I was different.
it can take between several days to over a week b4 the abrasion or ulcer heals. The ointment would have been an antibiotic
fucithalmic or something. This can ease the pain and cause a greasy slime for the eyelid to slide over thus not rubbing the abrasion more.
I am afraid you willhave to kick vanity in the ass and not wear your lenses till your eye is properly healed then if a hard lens introduce it for two hours the first day then and exta hour a day till you are upto the other good eye.
Good luck don't rub it don't stare at your computer .
ionce had a pice of metal slice my cornea I was in screaming pain for hours.
I think the pain is worse than any tooth ache
be brave and patient
you can ring moorfield eye hospital in london for advice if your doctor is crap.

MangoPete, you poor thing, that sounds pretty bad.I think mine was due to overwearing my lenses. It's the first time anything like this has ever happend to me - I have never had trouble with my eyes before. So I was a little scared at first.

Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.
