Determined Turtle

A small turtle emerged from the lake and clambered over the mossy roots of a huge redwood tree, when he reached the base of the tree he began to climb the trunk, inching his way slowly but surely to the top

After about 150ft the bark became smoother and the poor little critter lost his grip and fell all the way to the lake, from where he had started,hitting almost every branch on the way down

After he regained his strength, he relentlessly went straight back to the tree and again began to climb to the top, but alas he got to about the same point and down again he tumbled

Now, two Great Grey Owls had been watching this spectacle with great interest for most of the day and after the turtles third, failed attempt to reach the top, the female owl turned to the male and said.....

"Do you think it's time we told junior he was adopted" ?

Presumably they couldn't have offspring. Maybe it was always raining - too wet to woo.

You could well be spot on Frugalfred, after all it's temperate rain forest ;-)

I also have a best friend from a rescue center. he's about 9 or 10 and answers to the name of Tala, GSDX

I've had 4 GSDs over 30+ years - 2 from puppies and 2 rescues. Very intelligent animals, very loyal. Makes me walk every day rather than sitting in front of a computer!
