Lynda, you are no doubt right - we have been to parts of mainland Spain in February (when it's lovely) which I wouldn't want to visit in high season.
We've had many great holidays in the south-west: Puerto santiago (Hotel Barcelo Santiago is good), Playa la Arena & Los Gigantes. Nice beaches, bars and restaurants and not so many rip-off prices as Las Americas. Have you booked yet Grange? Tell us how it went when you gat back.
Have been going in Nov-Dec for many years. Last year they had a lot of rain in early Nov, but it improved by the time I went. Did cloud over early afternoon but it was still warm.Weather should be similar in Jan. You can get a day by day idea by going to www.arona.travel and looking at the web cam of Las Vistas beach. It has a last 24hrs compilation showing the changing weather.
There are not many alcoholic druggies there in the winter methyl?? (may be you should change your username) unless they are all over 50.

Many thanks for all your answers. I fear Tenerife will have to wait for another time though as husband has just come in having booked us in to Cyprus. Got a really good deal he says!! We'll see!!
