Cold Radiator

We have our loft converted recently. It is one big room and small toilet and shower. The big radiator in the main room always stayes cold. Although the towel radiator in the toilet is fine. I have checked and there is no air in it. It has thermo on one side. Copper pipe just under the thermo is hot but radiator and the other side of the copper pipe is either cold or a little warm at the best. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

My guess would be the system needed rebalancing after the heating was extended to another floor. Sure the radiator doesn't need bleeding ? All new piping ?

Firstly Try opening up the valve (not the thermo one ) a turn and see how that goes. Also check that the thermo valve is not stuck down.

Has you had previous pr obs with this Rad? the prob I had with our living room that had not been used for a while was the Product that keep the system clean had blocked the pipe coming up to the valve, I had to remove the valve & clear the blockage.

I guess that rad is on the end of the system, so it's not getting its full share. Re-balancing, as OG has said. The others need to be turned down slightly (on the lockshield valve, not the thermostatic one.)

If not, then maybe the boiler temperature needs to be raised to accommodate the extra rad.

Thanks for your answers. It is a new rad. But since your suggestions I kind of played with it and opened up the thermo as well. Once I fitted it again then it worked. Perhaps the valve was stuck (my guess). Thanks to all of you.
