Well it struck me that it was contradictory when they say they have free will
but at the same time they say they should only do what the 10 commandments say they should . In addition it is saying in effect that their past success has been because they followed the teaching of Moses .
Maybe they should scrap their present government and hand over to the clerics.
what "it"?
Read Snopes again. It explains why the ten commandments are not invoked. Only VI to X are.

The whole subject demonstrates the American ability to profess one thing and practise another. The country, when founded, was determined to separate church and state but, in practice, it is a Christian country and Christianity informs both it and its political thought. Forbidding state schools from teaching any specific religion, or making a fuss about the Decalogue appearing in public buildings, does not alter that.

May I apologise for sending the link which is not set out in the way mine was. The one sent to me is below and included pictures of all the presidents
plus angels and children looking up to heaven. It also asked me to send it on if I agreed with its sentiment. I didn't but I thought you might like to comment on the American mind set.

who is facing forward with a full frontal view ...
It is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW? As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom,
the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments
engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW? As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court Judges sit,
a display of the Ten Commandments

DID YOU KNOW?
There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the
Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington ,D.C.

DID YOU KNOW?
James Madison, the fourth president, known as
'The Father of Our Constitution' made the Following statement:
'We have staked the whole of all our political Institutions upon the capacity of mankind for Self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of
us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to The Ten Commandments of God.'

DID YOU KNOW? Every session of Congress
begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has
been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

making law an oligarchy: the rule of few over many.

How then, have we gotten to the point that
everything we have done for 220 years in this
Country is now suddenly wrong and Unconstitutional?

Lets put it around the world and let the world
see and remember that this great country was

Thanks Buenchico . most useful to know.

Woofgang I'm not sure what you consider a small percentage . Practically every speech, report , comment , from the President down to the ordinary soldier is sprinkled with religious comments. If you see pictures of American soldiers they are frequently seen huddled in prayer.

You never see that with our forces apart from official services when they are ordered to attend , and never huddled together.

The Americans are almost as bad as the Muslims in their portrayal of their faith. I would say that is a mindset but not necessary an addiction as with the Muslims.

When we see pictures of our parliament during PM Question Time how often do they refer to God ? Compare that with the American Senate which is like being in church at times.
