I bought an extremely large 'amaryllis' bulb at a large Chistmas Fair from a Belgian plant stall. All bulbs were loose and in separate compartments of 4/5 bulbs with picture on each compartment showing the flower. I know how easy it is for someone to put a bulb in wrong place but took the chance and bought what was to have been double white with pink picotee edges. I have two flower stems 24" high and 8 gorgous flowers but not what they should have been. Each flower stem opened up with 4 flowers, 6 petals 6 stamens with pollen on and 1 without pollen, and they are beautiful shade of Lime green, now after a week in flower they are slowly getting paler, But to my amazement there is a 3rd flower bud emerging! They are not doubles and the flowers are 'clean' i.e. normal type petals. Can anyone help identify the name for me? I have not been able as yet to find anything that looks like it. Cant find the name of the belgian suppliers either (pity).

They can be encouraged to bloom again, but second blooms are somewhat weaker.
You can overcome this by adding fertilizer (slow release, once a month) and moving to a sunnier position if possible

Here is a link that I hope may help www.usna.gov/Gardens/faqs/AmaryllisBloom.html

Thank you for your 'link' I have just looked at it and seen one that looks like mine except mine is really green, it was called 'Lemon and Lime'. I mixed slow release pellets with base soil when I potted mine up, but an awful lot of amaryllis sites seem to be based in USA don't they.
Yes Julia, they go for them in big way in the USA.

I'm glad you found the site through the 'Link' which did not seem to work instantly.

Those plants certainly do have the Wow factor!

Thank-you Woolfgang, I looked at them but while one looks similar it is a miniature and mine is a GIANT in comparison.
