Check the small print of the bank's T&C's - friends of ours found the cover wasn't quite as comprehensive as they thought, and had a not very high upper age limit.

Where do I get the £108. one from Chris? (Saga?)
Dont mind if its a bit more .
My figure was taken from Martin Lewis's MoneySavingExpert website (as frequently recommended on various BBC radio programmes). Here's the company he suggests:

Make sure you declare any health problems that you or Mr Pusskin have, or insurance won't be valid. Which part of Oz are you visiting, Puss? Hope you have a brilliant holiday! x
depends, if we now we're going on several trips abroad, we'll buy insurance for the year. Otherwise we'll book it when we book the trip

Perth Australia for one month. Staying with relatives
I will Bigjack thanks, tbh it's just a tick in the box exercise as thankfully I have no health issues but as for the elderly those cheap prices aer only for people with no prior conditions. From experience with inlaws, parents etc, those over 70 pay way more than that because they usually have some ill health experience to declare.
Lucky you. We went there about 10 years ago (Dec/Jan) to visit friends - best holiday ever! Make sure you visit Rottnest Island, a short boat-trip from Fremantle, near Perth. There are some strange animals that live there called quokkas, not found anywhere else. Have fun!
I remember Rottnest. My mate and I went there on our bikes but unfortunately she was the worst time-keeper in the world and we didn`t make it back to the pier for the last sailing back to Perth of the day. The boat was pulling out (it was about 2 foot from the pier) and we were told to just jump across the gap. Luckily we made it. The alternative was sleeping under a bush with the quokkas for the night.
Perth? Oh, lucky you!

Make sure that you take a trip out to the Pinnacles Desert; it's spectacular!:

LOL 237! I have a mental image of you both jumping for the boat hanging on to your bikes for dear life!
It was embarassing losgigs. I think the workers on the boat were a bit cross with us. My friend was happily snorkelling away on the far side of the island and I was shouting to her to tell her that we needed to go. She couldn`t hear me though. When she eventually came out of the sea, we pedalled like mad to get to the boat. I remember the quokkas coming out as we cycled past as they are very friendly and used to tourists but we couldn`t stop to pet them as we were in so much of a rush. The situation was exactly as you imagined though. Us jumping with our bikes onto the boat.

AH, all them places you have mentioned, i have been there,. but on my own 20 yrs ago without Mr Puss. Pinnacles out of this world. Love the harbour, Rotnest island etc. on this holiday, we are going on a midnight visit around the oldest prison in aussie! very spooky we've been told, haha.
I work in a Post Office and after having read the whole travel insurance policy I can assure you that you should buy travel insurance as soon as you book your trip. At the Post Office you can buy travel insurance 15 months (I think it is) in advance. It covers not only all people named on the policy in case of illness preventing you from travelling, but also if any close relative should become ill and you cannot travel. Not only that, but if you are working and illness should prevent a colleague or your boss from covering for your holiday that you would get paid out for that. It also covers you from the minute you leave home to the minute you get home, so you are covered whilst eg travelling to and from your local airport, so if there was a major incident on the motorway and you were caught up in it and missed your flight you would be able to claim. Buy as soon as you can!
