Vw Aircon

Hi,
another qustion, same car, 05 vw sharan. i asked garage if aircon was working, they took the car for mot and service and said it was working good.(just bought it yesterday) i have turned both the front and the back temperature indicators on the heater screen down to low, but still warm air comimg from vents. there is an econ switch, which i assume is no aircon when econ shows on display, but with it off still no cold air. also, when i switch econ button off and on, the rev counter does not move. does this mean it has switched off because of lack of refrigeration gas, or some other fault? it has front and rear heater controls.

If the outside temprature is under 6-7 degrees the A/C will not work.

Well, thank you toreman, I did read something about that in the handbook, but thought i was mis-reading it.
