I have a Hoover nextra washing machine and the drum has stopped going round. When I took my washing out nothing had happened and they were soaking wet. A few days ago I did notice a 'grinding' noise when I was taking the clothes out. I always turn the drum to make sure there are no socks etc left inside. Today though it has just stopped. It still takes the water in. Can anyone offer any advice please.

Thank you in advance :)

If it's the bearings (grinding noise would seem to indicate it it) then either new bearings or a new machine :-(

New machine would be cheaper.
Can you still spin the drum by hand ?, if you can then it's probable that the drive belt has either come off or snapped.
unplug and take the back off, then clean the pump and make sure the band is in place, as a start point.
The grinding noise sounds like your bearings might have worn out, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the brushes being worn, 'cos even with worn out bearings, I would expext the drum to go round, especially as you can still rotated it by hand, so you know the bearings haven't seized.
Damn typos .......
*rotated = rotate*
