Hypertension in cats ( and the eye symptoms) can be associated with hyperthyroidism which is quite common in older cats. You can ususally tell though - the cat gets skinny with a shaggy coat and ravenous appetite. I had my Mum`s cat checked out for that a while ago (negative).
