Mm Links Results February 2013 Week 4
13 Answers
February draws to a close so this is the game that decides next month's setter.
Emperor Kawakiri bowed out with the following chosen links:
BENCH MARK
MILK SHAKE
WHITE BOARD
PRINCE REGENT
Kawakiri said that the 4 challenge words were suggested by his work experience, but one left me puzzled - and probably you too.
I anticipated being told that Emperor Kawakiri had had dealings with Prince Philip, but no, PRINCE is an acronym standing for 'PRojects IN Controlled Environments'. So now you know (but are you any the wiser?).
To see how everyone did, look below:

The most popular pairing of the weekend (chosen my no fewer than 19 of you!) was BENCH MARK. PRojects IN Controlled Environments. Tearinghair, evsajo, fordward, beejay1124 and owllady were all in time for a bonus point so 2 MARKs each. The rest got singles.
PRINCE REGENT was also a popular choice and 2 points went to rockfordill and evsajo with 7 singles collected later by others.
MILK SHAKE also had a good following with evsajo and Aquagility claiming the bonus points.
That leaves the final link which only found one supporter all weekend - and that was WHITE BOARD, the choice of Seekeerz. Roslyn and Owllady obviously haven't been near a classroom in recent years as 'Elfin Safety' had blackboards replaced with WHITEboards around 10 years ago.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted that evsajo's name appears three time in the above announcements so as a triple-hitter earning 6 points, I declare:
**** HOTSHOT FOR ****
**** THIS WEEK IS ****
***** E V S A J O ******
** CONGRATULATIONS **
There were in fact two later TRIPLE-HITTERS who deserve a mention: Handbaglady and Baza.
Altogether, 48 points were awarded in what turned out to be Kawakiri's best game of the month for you. Here they are:
6 evsajo
3 baza
3 Handbaglady
3 seekeerz
2 Aquagility
2 beejay1124
2 cliffyg
2 fordward
2 grannydi
2 jobjockey
2 owllady
2 rockfordill
2 tearinghair
2 ulysses100
2 wickedtongue
2 x-ray
1 2unicorns
1 boxtops
1 cupid04
1 deecee131
1 Elspeth
1 Manxiemo
1 patchett
1 Psybbo
1 Strix
Only 5 players went away empty-handed.
So how does that affect the final leader-board?

We have a very interesting tie at the top after 4 weeks of play.
Baza and Evsajo are tied equal at the top on 8 points.
If I have to choose one over the other, then it has to be baza who matched more of kawakiri's links than evsajo.

Of those top two players, Evsajo last set the links in DEC 2007, Baza has never set them . . .so I therefore as BAZA to contact me.

No, no wiser, but to borrow from F.E. Smith (Lord Birkenhead), I am now "far better informed"!
Congrats to baza.
I and many others look forward to his contributions in March!

Thanks Emperor Kawakiri and Gen2. I should have said 'whiteboard' - they had changed from black - through green, in fact - before I retired. Actually I believe they are now Interactive white boards; I have visions of them shouting back whenever a student gets an answer wrong!
Congratulations to all scorers, particularly Baza and Evsajo, and good luck for next month's links Baza.

Thanks to all for the guesses, I must admit it was good to be on the other side watching the guesses come in.
Sorry for the early start on week three, it was prpbably a good thing my desktop pc was acting up this week although I don't think I would have made the same mistake.
Looking forward to being on the other side and trying to work out Baza's links.
