Does anyone have any luck with them ? do they actually work ? I'm having bad experiences with them as they they don't seem to communicate very well once I have made contact with them regarding job or to register.

use the main ones like Kelly Services, Reed (not too bad), office angels, adecco. they tend to have more work. I would recommend Kelly's to get the most work.

Question Author
so i take it the more established agencies are better then ?

alot of people disagree that office angels are good. I personally thought that brooke street were the best. Adecco sucked and so did Kelly Services.

what you need to remember is that recruitment agencies only get paid if you get placed.

while larger agencies have more jobs they also have more candidates - thats how they become larger

unfortunately as most com[panies do not have enough staff/resources to do their own recruitment then paying an agency between 10-20% is the way forward !

what i have found useful recently (just started a new job not through an agency) is if you go onto job websites and check out the who's hiring type pages - often direct recruitment and not agencies !

ps - just moved jobs from an agency !

Hello Alfie

In my experience they are all useless. I suggest you apply direct to the sort of companies you want to work for, don't wait until they advertise.

Good Luck

Hello Alfie

Try going it alone - I posted flyers to all Solicitors offering my services and did very well. I registered with agencies but heard nothing from them and this is not through my lack of experience. Anyway, it is better working for yourself - you get to keep the spoils and you can undercut the agencies. I found out the agency I was with charged twice as much an hour as they were paying me, so I split the difference and put that on my price list.

Good luck.
