Immigration is not always a good thing for the UK, as some would have us believe.

/// Half of all crime committed in Britain by foreign nationals takes place in London. ///

IMMIGRANT ARRESTS IN NUMBERS

27,725 Romanian nationals were arrested in connection with:

142 rapes
10 murders
666 sex crimes
303 robberies
1,370 burglaries
2,902 acts of violence

Number of Romanians in jail:

September 2011: 454
Last year: 624

/// Unless I'm mistaken, anotheoldgit, I think the reference to ex-servicemen in gaol relates to those alive and in custody in HMP and not those executed by a foreign nation seventy years ago in a gaol run by that foreign nation. ///

No, I have read through it again I cannot see any reference to those alive and in custody in HMP.

*** Someone's going to pull up the "ex-servicemen in jail figures" any minute now. ***

Can you or am I missing something?
AOG, is correct if he means there is no requirement that the force is directly applied to a person in a robbery: same as common assault, but yes robbery is classed as violent crime
Anotheoldgit, you are rambling now...
Yes,OL, it is to be read as 27,000+ arrests in London, but the arrests are "in connection with" the listed categories of offence, so we are to conclude that "in connection with" is plain nonsense and the figure covers all offences for which Romanians were arrested or that the Romanians in London are never arrested for other offences
AOG

I think, but am not sure, that you misunderstood the intent of my post.

When anyone starts throwing around the figures for ethnic minorities in prison, someone else (normally me, to be honest) rebuts with the number of ex-servicemen in jail.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/one-in-10-prisoners-is-a-former-soldier-new-research-reveals-7944479.html

The reason I do this is NOT to demonise those who have fought bravely for this country, but to show that it is misleading to simply draw any simplistic conclusions based on the over-representation of one demographic in prison.
And with respect (don't you love it when people start a sentence with that, because you know what's coming), your post from 12:57, was a little...odd.
/Someone's going to pull up the "ex-servicemen in jail figures" any minute now/.

/No, I have read through it again I cannot see any reference to those alive and in custody in HMP/

I hope when aog receives his bank statement with its 'money in your account' figures he doesn't expect it to be making any reference to any money actually being there and in his account now
/aog ...your post from 12:57, was a little...odd. /

odd sp

downright disgraceful!
Sorry, Fred, I do not know the answer, I tried searching for the actual FoI response but can not find it. Operation Nexus mentions 'high harm’, ‘prolific offending’ and 'serious offences', so maybe the list stated is simply highlighting the more serious crimes ?
Ethnic cleansing maybe the only answer
