This is not uncommon in parents, but more often than not, they calm down, bow to the inevitable, and carry on.
I haven't seen Gail's scenario, I assume it to be with the brat-from-hell David who needs a serious dose of common courtesy and the essence of co-existing with others.
I think the writers are dealing with it really well. It would be easy to find another way, but they're showing Sally reacting in shock, quite realistically. Faced with the scenario of finding out their daughter is in a sexual relationship at 15, most parents would be in shock too. And most parents watching would probably think they could handle it better, but then they're not actually in the situation, are they??
(Andy, I think you meant Sally is reacting with shock, in your first paragraph - slip of the pen, I'm sure. I always get the characters names confused too! For some reason, I can always remember the actors' names pretty well, but not their characters'.)
And David, he got a taste of his own nastiness when the big feller first got a grip of him by the throat and then, later, twisted it to make out the kid was a liar and a devious one at that. Clever! Again, quite realistic. It would have been easy to let David win out in that situation, but the writers found a way to make him squirm (and don't we just love it when that happens?!)
I think Sally is totally over-reacting, Rosie and Craig have been in a relationship for nearly 2 years, they love each other and they've been through a lot together. Its not as if she jumped into bed with any old person.
Sally is gonna have more of a shock at the end of the week, Rosie is going to be put on the pill, but at least she is being careful, more than can be said for Sarah-Louise Platt.
I think the producers/writers are more liekly to make Sophie pregnant.
