I was looking around for some vinyl earlier on Ebay and pretty well all the sellers said "No italian bidders", I just got to wondering what have they done to earn such a bad name? Anyone any experience of this?

It has been suggested, on an earlier thread, that many package destined for Italy seem to get lost in their postal system, resulting in sellers losing money when they have to refund Italian buyers for non-delivery and/or negative feedback from those buyers:

I know that this is the case, but I have to say that I have sold quite a few linen and embroidery items to buyers in Italy with no problem. I was told (I don't know if it's true obviously) that the Italian postal sysytem is Mafia controlled!
I work in a Post Office and one of my e-bay customers often sends goods to Italy and as yet has not reported any problems at all. Russia seems to be a place where all parcels do not arrive though.
I used to work in the haulage industry many moons ago and sometimes had to transfer money to a driver. I learned very quickly never to transfer money to Italy as it would arrive too late for the person to collect. It would disappear for a few weeks and then be returned.
